Woman opens door to find burglary suspect lying on living room floor: Lakewood Police Blotter

LAKEWOOD, Ohio –

A woman who was house-sitting for a friend called the police department at 9:27 a.m. on Aug. 16 to report she had just opened the front door to her friend’s house and found a man lying on the living room floor. Police officers arrested the man on charges of burglary and disorderly conduct while intoxicated, according to a police event report.

Theft: Madison Avenue

A female resident on Aug. 9 reported that her passport had been stolen from her mailbox.

Theft: Detroit Avenue

An assistant manager of the Marc’s store on Detroit Avenue near Cook Avenue called the police department at 9 a.m. on Aug. 10 to report a suspected shoplifter was being detained. The man was accused of stealing laundry detergent. He was arrested on misdemeanor charges of theft and drug paraphernalia.

Grand theft vehicle: Marlowe Avenue

A resident at 11:12 p.m. on Aug. 10 reported their vehicle had been stolen from their driveway. Broken glass was found in the driveway. The vehicle was taken sometime between Aug. 6 and late Aug. 10, according to a police event report. Police entered the vehicle into a police database as stolen.

Aggravated menacing: Edgewater Drive

Police responded at 7:16 p.m. on Aug. 12 to a report of women arguing on Edgewater Drive near W. 117th Street. Officers spoke with both females in a parking lot. One woman was arrested for aggravated menacing, according to a police event report.

OVI: W. 117th Street

Officers responded at 3:15 a.m. on Aug. 14 to W. 117th Street near Detroit Avenue on a report that a dark four-door sedan was up on the curb and near the McDonald’s restaurant drive-thru. It appeared that the vehicle might have hit a dumpster, according to a police event report. The female driver was crying. She was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and having an open container, according to the event report.

OVI: Victoria Avenue

Police arrested a woman for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a little after 7 p.m. on Aug. 14, after she came to a school building on Victoria Avenue late to pick up her child, who had been attending a day camp. She was supposed to arrive by 6 p.m. When she arrived, she appeared to be intoxicated, a caller told the police. An officer arrested the woman for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, according to a police department event report.

OVI: Detroit Avenue

A patrol officer at 2:33 a.m. on Aug. 16 arrested a male driver for operating a vehicle while intoxicated on Detroit Avenue at Bunts Road.
