In an early 20th century walk-up building, this Sunset Park apartment has a flexible layout, wood floors, moldings, and a modest monthly maintenance cost. In the tapestry brick building at 4015 7th Avenue, it is near the neighborhood’s eponymous park.
Designed by the prolific Cohn Brothers, plans were filed for the apartment building in 1916. It is one of several tapestry brick buildings on the nearby blocks designed by the Cohn Brothers and built by the Safe Construction Company. Painted in gold above the entry of No. 4105 is “Sunset Home Ass’n” for the Sunset Home Association, one of the Finnish co-operative housing organizations active in the community in the early 20th century. While the building is outside any of the locally designated Sunset Park historic districts, it is within the larger Sunset Park National Register District.
Inside this unit an entry hall leads to the living room where windows show tree-top views, the aforementioned wood floor, and a set of French doors. Those open into the dining room which could be used as a second bedroom if needed. The floor plan shows that it does have a large closet, one of two in the unit.
A new owner might want to give the kitchen a bit of a style tweak. As is the windowed space has white cabinets and appliances and walls covered in a beige, marbleized wallpaper.
Across from the kitchen is the main bedroom, which has the other closet in the unit. While the closet space isn’t overly abundant, the unit does come with a dedicated storage space in the basement.
The bathroom has some vintage flair with pink wall and floor tiles and pink accessories. It isn’t all pink though, the fixtures are white, including the console sink.
