The project cost of $5.3 million is the latest phase in a modernization of the landmark property that is expected to take about five years. Owners so far have invested $28.5 million.
Napa Valley’s Silverado Resort has completed renovations to its 345 guest rooms and suites, a project that totaled $5.3 million, according to Todd Shallan, vice president and managing director.
The room renovations represent the latest phase of a multi-million-dollar modernization effort that began more than three years ago when KSL Capital Partners and Arcade Capital bought the property for an undisclosed amount. Denver-based Peregrine Hospitality manages the resort.
At the time of the February 2022 purchase, the buyers reported an initial investment of $14.1 million as renovations got underway.
That investment amount has now reached $28.5 million, according to Shallan. The entire revamp will take up to five years, he said this week.
The Silverado Resort sits on 1,200 acres and has been a Napa landmark since its 1870 founding as a private estate.
In addition to the hundreds of guest rooms and suites, the resort includes two PGA championship golf courses, nine tennis courts, three bocce and pickleball courts, three swimming pools, a 16,000-square-foot spa and fitness center, The Grill restaurant, and 70,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space.
To date, more than 15 upgrades have been made to the property. Some of the others include the restaurant (refurbished April 2023), driving range and golf course bridges (upgraded June 2023), and the 30,000-square-foot indoor event center (renovated January 2024).
The Business Journal in February 2024 reported the renovation of 17,000 square feet of indoor event space had been completed. Upgrades were made to the ballroom, conference and meeting rooms, and the preparation areas. That project totaled $1.5 million.
Next up are renovations to the spa and fitness center and The Grove, an outdoor event venue.
Work on those two projects is expected to begin in September, a timeline that could shift because permit approvals from Napa County are still pending, according to Shallan.
If that timeline stands, the spa and fitness center would be done by year’s end, and The Grove by the end of the second quarter of 2026, according to Shallan.
