Scientists investigating the eerie ‘Skinwalker Ranch’ in Utah were left baffled after a radar detector picked up an unexpected reading.
I’m sure there are lots of places worth visiting in Utah, but I’d argue that Skinwalker Ranch isn’t one of them.
If the name wasn’t enough to put you off, then the history of the ranch located in the Uinta Basin definitely should be.
The area is believed to be a paranormal hotspot due to reports of mysterious lights, unknown illnesses, flying objects and even shape-shifting monsters, according to Utah.com, leading it to be described as a ‘ufo hotbed’.
The mysterious happenings on the ranch have inspired a number of books as well as a show on the History Channel, which is where scientists found themselves looking at a mysterious reading.
In the clip from The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch, the team used both ground-penetrating radar and rockets to try and figure out what might be causing an electromagnetic disturbance they could detect in an area of the ranch called The Triangle.

The team were looking for a potential underground tunnel hidden beneath the ground, but were surprised when data from one of the rockets appeared to show it going into a hill on the ranch.
The team noted that the readings appeared in the same place where a UAP (unidentified aerial phenomenon) was previously seen apparently entering the hillside.
At another point in the episode, the researchers described picking up a reading approximately 40 feet above where some of them were stood just a few seconds after a rocket was let off on the ranch.
However, considering the rocket went straight up in the air about a mile away from where the ‘blip’ happened, it’s unclear exactly what caused it.

Discussing the mysterious readings, one of the researchers said: “We don’t know what’s causing the GPS errors but it is obvious that something has prevented us from getting accurate data on Skinwalker Ranch.”
It’s unclear exactly why Skinwalker Ranch is such a hotbed for mysterious goings-on, but legends associated with the land have been going on for years.
According to Utah.com, the term ‘skin-walker’ comes from Navajo legend, and refers to evil witches, which have the ability to shapeshift into animals or humans.
Skinwalker Ranch is located in an area originally inhabited by the Ute Tribe, but legend suggests that members of the Navajo unleashed skin-walkers upon their enemies during a time of hostility between the Utes and Navajo.
