CALHOUN COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) – Officials said a Calhoun County K-9 that was shot last week is on the road to recovery.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office said Monday that K-9 Angus has returned home and is doing well. Authorities said Angus was shot while trying to slow down a suspect on May 30 in the area of Church Camp Road.
“We are happy and thankful to report that he is home and doing well,” the sheriff’s office said in an update posted to Facebook on Monday regarding K-9 Angus. “The bullet miraculously missed all vital organs and he will be as good as new in a few weeks!”
The suspect, who deputies identified as 45-year-old Jermaine Halmon, was also shot by deputies and taken to a hospital.
As of Monday, the sheriff’s office said Halmon was still being treated for his injuries and has not been formally charged. More information is expected once he is released and clear
