Officials at the Mcdonald’s on Timpany Blvd. in Gardner unveiled their renovated dining area and modernized ordering system during a grand re-opening ceremony on Wednesday.

The remodeled dining room was the result of a five-week renovation project, during which the restaurant’s interior was closed, according to David Yee, who owns and operates the location along with his daughter, Christine Yee. He said most McDonald’s restaurants are updated every decade or so.

“The lobby here was looking kind of tired; it’s well over 10 years year old, and we thought this was a great opportunity to reinvigorate the store and improve the looks for our customers,” David said.

The store’s entire dining area was gutted, and the floors, walls, and ceilings were replaced, the counter was shortened, and the restaurant’s ordering kiosks were relocated, he added.

“This is an entire redesign of the store,” David said.

Ward 5 City Councilor Alek Dernalowicz said he was impressed with the restaurant’s updated look.

Gardner McDonald's co-owner and co-operates David Yee, left, with Gardner Mayor Michael Nicholson at the restaurant's grand re-opening ceremony on Wednesday.

“It’s definitely different than the McDonald’s of old, which was a little dated,” he said. “But this is a beautiful building, and I know it’s a very busy location.”

Mayor Michael Nicholson thanked David and Christine for their reinvestment in the restaurant chain’s Chair City location and called them active local partners in the community.
