Annual Okahoma Christmas ornament released, capturing elegance of Governor’s Mansion dining room | Community

Oklahoma City – The annual state holiday ornament for 2024 has been unveiled by the Friends of the Oklahoma Governor’s Mansion (Friends of the Mansion).

This year’s collectible Christmas ornament offers a stunning view of the Oklahoma Governor’s Mansion’s stately dining room.

“The 2024 Christmas ornament beautifully encapsulates the history and charm of our state,” Oklahoma First Lady and Friends of the Mansion Chairperson Sarah Stitt said.

“Each ornament sold helps ensure the Governor’s Mansion remains a lasting symbol of Oklahoma’s heritage, preserved for future generations to enjoy.”

The dining room, encased by original, beautifully paneled walls, exudes timeless elegance and is home to many of the state’s cherished historic treasures.

One of the standout features is the set of intricately carved wooden chairs, each adorned with a handcrafted needlepoint cushion created by volunteer artists from across Oklahoma.

These cushions proudly display the state seal and the emblems of the Chickasaw, Cherokee, Choctaw, Muscogee (Creek) and Seminole Tribes, adding rich historical significance to the setting.

At the heart of the room, the dining table, a staple since the Mansion’s completion in 1928, takes center stage.

Originally designed to seat six guests, it has been expanded three times to now comfortably host fourteen.

On the table, you’ll find the official State of Oklahoma China, crafted by Lenox, with a festive mistletoe border — perfect for the holiday season.

Crafted with attention to detail, this ornament is finished in 23-karat gold and meticulously assembled in the United States. In the words of a Friends of the Mansion press release:

“It proudly represents the Twenty-Eigth edition of an annual series by Friends of the Mansion. This allows the Governor’s Mansion to obtain its full potential as a tribute to Oklahoma’s incredible history, remain open for public tours and host events for Oklahoma organizations and dignitaries.

“This year’s ornament can be purchased for $19.55 directly from the Friends of the Mansion website or from select retail stores around the state, including Mathis Brothers Furniture in OKC and Tulsa, the Oklahoma Capitol gift shop, Oklahoma travel stops and the Oklahoma History Center gift shop.”
