I Can’t Stop Thinking About Cameron Diaz’s Statement Lighting

If I were moving homes, and I had a fresh, black canvas to play with, I’d recreate Cameron Diaz’s Beverly Hills living room in a heartbeat. Such is the case with one of my coolest friends who recently bought a new apartment. In her case, her living room is (unsurprisingly) more compact; there’s one design element that’s easily replicable: Cameron Diaz’s statement lighting.

I’ve been coveting the actress’s scalloped rattan light fixture ever since I first laid eyes on her neutral space back in the spring. Now, as the end of the year draws ever closer, I still find myself thinking about her beautiful lighting idea and how the piece ties her room together perfectly.

Rattan has already transcended design trends for over fifty years, but when it comes to lighting, design experts say it’s never felt quite as stylish. In recent months, wicker lighting has sat at the top of many designer wish-lists, and it’s a look that’s not set to waver.

‘Over the past year, we have seen an increased demand for natural and lightweight materials in lighting design and a desire for modern aesthetics. This demand shows no signs of slowing down,’ comments design expert Shelley Cochrane.

‘Natural lighting fixtures add warmth and texture to our home and there are more options now available for materials such as rattan, bamboo and reclaimed wood, which creates an inviting atmosphere that complements modern and traditional interiors alike. Lightweight designs make installation and rearrangement effortless, allowing you to experiment with different looks and setups,’ she says.

‘As we head into a new year, our focus is on providing beautiful, functional lighting that resonates with the new trends and styles of today’s mindful consumers.’

With Cameron’s accidental endorsement, this is one lighting trend I’m sure will stand the test of time. I look forward to many a party in my friend’s new home, crowned by this beautiful fixture.
